There is no way watching 720p using only CPU, you need DSP to handle that.

You should include those patches only if they don't break the low voltage profile except for those who want to use the feature.
Those DSP patches are included since kp48, excluding the last one which brings troubles. I found what the problem is and will send new patch to pali. Anyway KP49 is clearly marked as UNSTABLE and it is still even not in extras-devel. That should mean something, ain't it?

I am human too and make mistakes as all humans do, i.e. sh|t happens.

Anyway apologies to you and anyone else who has troubles with KP49 because of my last patch to DSP driver.

Not all of them.
From git:
last change Sat, 1 Oct 2011 21:31:54 +0000
shortlog
19 hours ago Pali Rohár Fixed copying kernel source to build directory in debia... master
19 hours ago Pali Rohár Update debian/changelog
19 hours ago Pali Rohár Add patch dspbridge_flushall.diff
19 hours ago Pali Rohár Add patch dspbridge_new_api.diff which bring support...
19 hours ago Pali Rohár DSS video memory is increased from 6 to 8 megabytes...
19 hours ago Pali Rohár Fixed patch radio-si4713.diff
And this thread is clearly more recent than kp48
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=77695
so I was supposing you were adding patches in support for such feature, although of course I may be wrong.

I thank you for your effort

I'm fully aware of that. What's more, I installed the new testing kernel to be able to check dissapear's problems.

Of course. Nor I'm accusing you of anything. Please don't read too much into my post.

No need to apologize at all.

But you said:

So it seemed you expected the patches to break common use overclocking/voltage profiles.
So I have to state: Please don't add such patches if they break overclocking/voltage profiles in users who don't use the new features.

Sorry, but can't agree. There is no such thing as "breaking stability of low voltage profiles". First of all, if after this path Your "profiles" become unstable, that means they were unstable already, just to much less noticeable level. Just fix them.

Second, commonly used (aka titan's ones - ideal, xlv etc) profiles are depreciated, and for long time (reportedly) responsible for slow filesystem corruption.

Just don't demand profiling development of *anything* to cope with broken methods, like over-undervolting or insanely scaled (between frequencies) voltage profiles. By the way, to be honest, I think every package should be expected to work on *stock* voltages - that said, I use custom voltage profile, that I created with much time and testing involved. It's just insane to request developing of things having compatibility with undervolting/overclocking as first priority! It's normal way, that You *may* want to overclock to achieve certain things (like smooth 720p playback), but it doesn't work other way around (develop everything for 250 mhz only, or for low voltage profiles).

sorry, but IMO Your request is like:

"it doesn't work with speed/battery patch, don't upload anything that can't work with speedpatch!"

So, what are the replacement's for Titan's profiles then? I haven't seen package kernel-power-settings updated neither for kp48 nor kp49. Please elaborate.

Guys, lets quit this voltages discussion, what causes DSP MMU FAULT is cache incoherency (which was supposed to be prevented by the last patch). Instead it made it worse. If someone makes an effort to look at it (it is not so big) will see. It has nothing to do with clocks/voltages.

Nope, as I already explained this patch has nothing to do with voltages. Neither I expected it to break DSP driver for stock libbridge. Just open it and you will see. It is pointless to draw such conclusions out of the air without first looking at the code (being a developer)

Hmm, I just watched Inception (with 800x480 H.264 Baseline Profile) on my N900 from start to finish with the stock media player, with the newest KP49, at 500,36;430.

Oh, and the voltage profiles as provided by titan don't work for everyone - they're supposed to be a base for increasing/decreasing voltage.

@Hurrian - seems there is a problem with mpeg4(or whatever it is called), H264 works ok.
