All these "how low can you go?" settings remind me of the reason I am not too enthusiastic about them. Someone who seemed to know what he was talking about was asked if too low a power setting could result in file corruption, and he said yes.
What is bothersome about file corruption is it might not be immediately obvious, so its origin might not be clear. I am running the starving settings, but I'm not going lower than that, at least for now.

You are mixing 2 commands guy !
according to Titan's Topic :
* this one is for cpu frequency :
sudo gainroot
kernel-config load ideal
kernel-config limits 250 750
* this one is for voltage :
kernel-config load lv
kernel-config limits 500 1000
I'm running at 850 easily for the freq and didn't touch the voltage already.

I just jumped in the pool and installed the kernel from Extras. Following what i could find on the wiki entry, i typed
sudo kernel-config load ideal
and it changes to ideal. I've tried running MAME and playing movies to give it a bit of a test. Then i tried
sudo kernel-config limits 250 850
and tested again. No problems, but when i check the CPU frequency, it's always at 850. That's not the way it's supposed to work, right?
Tried deprived thereafter - seems completely stable, just as stable as starved.
Simplicity = Efficiency, Complexity = Impotency
