think I got it this time, if not, is there a way I can have it copy to a file, and I can just send that up?

Yes, this is it. Unfortunately this UPnP server doesn't give out more information on what's wrong. I'll try if I find something.

I have an N800, OS2008, installed the MediaBox FM player plug-in and I just cant find where it is supposed to display within MediaBox. The regular Nokia FM player works fine. Any pointers?

I asked this earlier in this thread...short answer: It doesn't work...yet.

In the mean time, I have been using pyFMradio app, It is very slick and hopefully the plugin will mimic it (esp as it is from the same author)

Great app - I've replaced the stock media player with MediaBox now. There's no reason to keep the stock one sitting around any longer when MediaBox does everything better, and more.

One question: is it possible to hack in gapless playback, or is that a limitation of the backend that MediaBox uses? Whenever I play back live albums or DJ mixes that are supposed to be continuous, there's a gap of ~1 second between each track which pretty much ruins the experience. Compliance with the encoder tags set by LAME would make this media player unbeatable.

Gapless playback would need a backend supporting this. It's certainly not impossible on Maemo but such a thing doesn't exist yet, AFAIK.

? Is the full screen / Car mode still there for the N8x0?

If so, How do I get to it?

Thanks
Sno

It's somewhat a small premiere.
As far as I know, MediaBox is the first 3rd party media player on the N900 to support the Maemo MAFW framework for media playback.
MediaBox is also the first media player written in Python to use MAFW for playback. Of course my code for using MAFW is open for anyone to use in their Python programs.

Using MAFW on the N900 has some benefits. For instance, audio will play in silent mode and doesn't stutter while locking the screen. And you are able to control the volume with the hardware keys while the screen is locked (this requires Maemo5 PR 1.2).

In case you prefer mplayer over MAFW, and have mplayer installed on your device, you can use it as media backend as well. Or just use plain GStreamer as before. The backend to use is configurable per media type.
On the N8x0, the available backends are OSSO Media Server (the predecessor of MAFW), mplayer, and GStreamer.

How do you normally get music onto your device? Now you can browse your UPnP media shares and download whole folders with their media contents onto the device. YouTube videos can be copied to the device, too, and MediaBox manages all this with the new download manager component.

There have also been made some (a lot) performance improvements in the new version, and the handy sleep timer from the 0.96.x series of MediaBox is back.

Enjoy, and please don't forget to vote for the package if you're using it from extras-testing on the N900!

nice Player....but is there a way to add mutiple files to the playlist other than selecting the whole folder and adding it to playlist?

i mean selecting tracks one by one and adding them together as a bunch.....
