I think those warnings are harmless. They should disappear when you use debsu in place of debian and debbie-sue in place of debbie.

Some time ago, I asked qole to change the login behavior of the scripts debian and debbie to imply "su -" instead of "su". Because I seemed to be the only one having issues with the standard behavior, he kept it, and provided alternative scripts "debsu", that you can simply use in place of "debian", and "debbie-sue" in place of "debbie". If you have an up-to-date Easy Debian installation, you'll have those scripts (they are also documented in the wiki). Just try. They make a difference in particular if you have non-US locales.

using sudo debsu worked fine. There where no noob frightening lines in the output. Thanks! tommorow I will try to update Open Office!

While updating Open Office a blue screen popped out and it told me that components might be corrupted. Then everything started to work after hitting OK. The phone got extremely hot (i'm OC to 900 mhz) but at the end it ended out with a success. Thanks to sudo debsu and Qole and You

To speed up opening OO the following steps have been recommended:

Open OOo. Select Tools -> Options. Select Memory.

then set

Number Of Steps: 20
Use for OpenOffice.org: 128
Memory Per Object: 20
Number Of Objects: 20
Enable Quickstarter: Checked


The problem I find is that there is no box to enable Quickstarter here. I think in earlier versions there was such option.

I currently have version 3.2.1 of OO on LXDE. Anyone have a similar problem (and a solution)?

Just in time! It looks like version 3.2.1-7 of OO is available on sid.
As it turns out, when firing up LXDE, a Quickstarter icon
showed up on my panel! It actaully works for, not only Writer, but,
all the OO applications.

Update: Also noticed that when you call up OO from an icon that the
OO banner is not skewed.

Version 3.2.1-7 is already in squeeze for some time (I even have updated the wiki on that). However, in my installation the OO banner is still skewed. Did you do a full installation of openoffice.org, or only of the selection of packages recommended in the wiki (which saves some space)?

I also tried Quickstarter in LXDE, and it indeed let me launch everything from the top panel, but when I then started OO from the regular menu, it first came with different theming than those I had selected, and at the second attempt, it did not start at all (from LXDE, no problem within debbie). Even disabling quickstarter (via debbie) and closechroot didn't help, and I had to reboot twice to have everything working again. (At the first reboot I had even Maemo malfunctioning, weird background and no menu - perhaps I'm seeing a hardware problem, though now it is OK again...)
