I have yet to see a single example of a true community member doing that.

Please, Dan, that's a tired, misguided and mistaken refrain. I would kindly ask you to drop it but I'm afraid you'd take the request as proving your point.

How many times does it all bear repeating, though?

How would you know?

Seriously, I'm thinking this one has run its course. It's descended into the same useless dead horse beating as every other Nokia lament/bash/whatever. I don't moderate this subforum, but if I did, I'd probably lock this thread now.

What ISN'T perfectly appropriate is the same spew repeated over and over and over and over and over again.

That's noise. It serves no productive purpose. If that's all the malcontented posters here want to do, then one of them needs to create a Nokia hate forum and have at it.

I'm tired of it, geneven.

Ouch! Caught in a Catch 22! It may be truly tired but I assure you that it's neither misguided nor mistaken. I've seen it happen plenty of times over my years here. If you must impose, and if I can find some time, perhaps I can dredge up some examples for you? No wait... hang on, I might have something for you... hang on...

Maybe enough times that it shows up on search engines whenever Maemo or Nokia comes up so people can be well informed before they head out to buy something just to show up in the community to be told that perhaps they should have researched their device better? Ironic! I'm sure you can Google up all the times members have been told that.

So negative opinions and observations, especially criticism (however constructive, and however right it's been proven over time now) is unwelcome here? It might be noise to some but had it been listened to when there was less of it, there might have been far less of it now. Even if the Nokia mothership doesn't want to listen directly to its customers or to the Maemo forums, eventually things said here HAVE to be making it to them. They're already mattering, whether they know it or not.

Just thought that first paragraph tells quite clearly what TMO is and what it isn't. Also it contains links to Nokia maemo/meego support forums.

No fair using a magic term to prove your point. If we came up with a person who sinned as described, you would immediately claim that they weren't a True Community Member. So your assertion can't be disproved, as mine couldn't if I said that True Communism never failed, or some BS like that.

Just out of curiosity, why single my comment out? Why not count the number of posts I've made in this thread and see if the implication that I am spewing the same thing over and over is true. I think I've barely posted here, so I can't have spewed that much.

And by the way, if you think that all I do on this site is criticize Nokia, your perception is skewed.

To quote Star Wars...
"HE DOESN'T LIKE YOU!"

The next lines from that character aren't very helpful here, but I'll go on...
"I DON'T LIKE YOU EITHER! YOU JUST WATCH YOURSELF!"

To add to that, if Nokia didn't pile on stupid-on-top-of-stupid, it would be far more difficult to complain and far more fun to actually talk shop. Don't you agree?

Have you just officially admitted your intention to criticize Nokia here is to flood the Google search database such that people would buy less from Nokia?

You must be proud of yourself!

A criticism is constructive when the critic is actually wanting the criticized to improve. Give the intention you've just explicitly stated, how would youexpect a massive welcome of your negative opinions?

May be it's just that tiresome Nokia bashings that could only service your own noble cause rather than being constructive are unwelcome here?

Would also seriously consider our real contructive criticism to you, hoping that the never-ending bashing noises would be kept down?

I think you missed the tongue-in-cheek nature of the comment. It harks back to the time when users who had problems with their n900's, bought at the local mobile phone store, were told they should have done more research - and then they would have found that they shouldn't have bought the phone in the first place (because despite being sold by O2, Vodafone, etc., it was not really meant to bought by them, and was only ever intended for developers). The irony in the comment suggests that were the search engines to be flooded this way, people would know that the phone was not for users, and not be bought. Of course, the absurdity is that any firm would produce a phone only for use by developers, and not market it - only to then make it available on the high street. Not sure who is more naive in this delusion - the developers, the phone company, or the users who bought the thing in a high street store.
