Replica? ..replicant you mean?...I would prefer Freemantle...but it may not be ready at the same time as the neo is being shipped out. Inevitably I would put Freemantle on it. Probably Nemo-Mer ...probably Replicant...probably Arch...wouldn't mind trying to get Parabola linux running on it....love Parabola....(if you haven't messed with it...it's basically an absolutely free version of arch)...that would be cool.
I would rather buy a whole device.
And keep my current n900 as a backup in the desk drawer... until I buy a neo board for it ...during the 2nd or 3rd production run...
From what I fathom getting the board means YOU get the board ...rip out your old one and put the neo board in it's place....
Though it is cheaper just to get the board... sending my n900 in... paying the shipping to send it.... and labour to put the neoboard in ....and then shipping costs back... doesn't make a great deal of fiscal sense ...not saving much money there..might as well just buy a whole unit if I'm not interested in putting the board in myself.

You will not be able to use your iPhone earplugs with other devices in the near future.
Apple has modified the Made for iPhone (MFi) standard to include headphones that connect to iOS devices via Lightning port instead of the headphone jack, according to media reports.
Currently, the Apple-made EarPods use a regular 3.5mm headphone jack and hence they can be used with any other device with a 3.5mm audio port. It also means you can use virtually any other pair of non-Apple earphones with your iPhone.
But that is not going to be for long.
The port switch could also means headphones could be made to work exclusively with a particular app — or even launch a specific app once they are plugged in.
So, instead of being able to plug in your EarPods and listen to whatever streaming music app you want, a pair of future EarPods could only work with the iOS Music app and iTunes Radio.
