Something might also show up in journal.

What method to use? I found ofono as a system bus service that may be privileged. https://sailfishos.org/wiki/D-Bus_AP...m_bus_services
In SFOS 3.3.0 libofono was added, including QML bindings with explicit cell broadcast support. That might be easier and more reliable as experiment to see if the alert is picked up. But, in the end this should be part of SFOS, or at least background services should be allowed in Harbour.

Based on the example in that library I created a test app. First result is that OfonoCellBroadcast is disabled. I'll try to switch it on later, and add a Github link.

I've found an interesting article about Cell Broadcast (or lack thereof) in the UK and how it could be used as an Emergency Alert Platform.

Maybe it will help to clarify some concepts behind how it all operates.

It it can be accessed over dbus that would open a way to create a simple app that could display such warnings.

Yes, a full integration into the OS would be better but waiting for Jolla to implement something that is rarely used and people generally don't care much about is pointless.

With the Boogaloo on the horizon in would be nice to know in time what the government oppressors are directing the population to do.

Unfortunately I have not made any progress. In the end I tried to add the enabling/disabling of the OfonoContextConnection, like the MouseArea does in the ofonotest code. But the status remains "offline".

Also the broadcast status seems to remain "disabled".

Feel free to try for yourself: https://github.com/cow-n-berg/harbour-broadcasted

P.S. After an hour of testing several times, suddenly the screenshot shows "enabled", but... I don't get it. It does not react to the buttons, it seems.

OfonoContextConnection changed to "online" when I went outside, and changed from wifi to mobile data. The search continues.

OfonoCellBroadcast remained "disabled" today. I'm clueless. In the end I decided to show the entire OfonoCellBroadcast object, in case it becomes enabled again. The rpm is also on Github, I didn't bother changing the version number.

I've set up $ dbus-monitor > sessionbus.log and # dbus-monitor --system > sessionbus.log in screen session to log all dbus-things.

Here's my status (Provider:Simyo via KPN)
