That's one of the golden rules of computing, if in doubt try shutting down and switching back on again.

If you do want to retry something, switching it off completely and then switching it on often works better than just restarting. I don't know why.

Incidentally, getting into the BIOS can be tricky, quite often the instructions are only on-screen for literally a second or two, and if your monitor is still warming up you may not see them at all. However, the manual that came with your PC may tell you what keys you need to press to get into BIOS, if you ever need to do that.

I'll be back as I try to figure out and get the most out of this N800, I am really, really hoping those SDHC memory cards work, I have not yet told my husband that I bought them and they didn't work. Maybe I won't have to!
SDHC cards absolutely definitely work, they're part of the official N800 specifications:

http://europe.nokia.com/A4305063

"Two internal memory card slots, compatible with SD, MicroSD, MiniSD, MMC, and RS-MMC. Supports memory cards up to 8GB. SD cards over 2GB must be SDHC compatible."

As long as you have the latest firmware (which is what the update wizard is installing on your tablet), the SDHC cards should work fine.
