I so agree with Karel - there seems little point debating what quality of camera should be included in a future tablet when it's clear Nokia have no idea what to do with the current camera.

Including hardware (Camera, 3D acceleration) then ignoring it in software is criminal as not only is it wasteful, but it's cost me money to include the hardware which is now being ignored!

That said, a tablet without a camera would generate a lot of unecessary criticism so a camera is necessary - I just hope Nokia can decide on how they're going to make use of it, and once that decision is made ensure it's of usable quality (the current camera wouldn't even make it into a Christmas cracker).

I'm kind of torn here. There's definitely something to be said for having a cam for quick and dirty things (take a pic and mark it up), things you can't do with a cell phone camera. But that's the crux: most people have a cell phone, probably near their tablet, so having two camera's might be a little redundant.

I don't need a full camera in their. Just something like the iEye thing in Macbooks.

I thought it was pretty neat to be able to take motving pictures when I went on a hike with my N800, and the picture quality is better with the 2008 software.

Probably what Nokia should do is make some mini-attachments and sell the camera and the gps and the phone as add-on devices, using bluetooth or something equivalent.

As with many polls, this one forces the responder to shoehorn his opinion into a choice that he doesn't agree with or else not participate. For example, I'm not interested in how many megapixels it has -- it just needs to take good pictures. The new conventional wisdom is that megapixels don't really count.

So I guess I'll pass on the poll.

Drop it. Makes the tablet a "no go" within quite a few company compounds. Provide a USB/BT/Firewire/Slaves shoveling bits device for attaching one for those who like it,

Definitely keep and improve it. Lots of cool stuff than can be done (but has not yet been) with it. Great for trivial uses at the moment, but I think a great idea or five will hit a developer soon

The camera shouldn't be removed*, rather, Nokia should diversify the maemo lineup with an E-series device that forgoes the camera for more storage, an IrDA LED, or a smaller device. Nokia shoudn't be making large compromises between very different sections of the maemo customer base. They need to be adding more devices to the lineup outside of the N-series realm to match more closely with the needs and desires of a greater number of buyers.

Well, the market may actually be too small for this right now, but it is definitely something that needs to be looked into for the future of the platform.

*You can't honestly expect the large number of people who use the camera to make due with a accessory device for the benefit of the few people who work in places with strict security policies, can you?

I voted for the last 3 yesses, but truly, what I'd like to see is a modular approach. Stick a compact flash slot on top of the tablet and we can slide in all sorts of devices (like RFID and optical scanners, yay!) including camera modules. if none exist, then we make one!

Camera that you can pop out like N800 camera is nice. But I wouldnt like to have camera that is ´open´ all the time. There should also be Skype support for this camera. Small videophone would be very nice

Cameras these tablets have at the moment are like a joke. Picture quality is so bad. Its nice, but its like a toy.
