We updated the LCARS PADD themes earlier this month, and another update (with some minor bug fixes and a 3rd color scheme) is coming soon.

Seriously, the LCARS PADD is a great theme. I have a friend who is a huge trekky and when I should it to him he just about flipped his wig. But, I am still looking forward to some more themes, maybe something with all transparent menu bars?

so far the only theme that is anything more than just different colors of the same old thing is the LCARS, Id love to see more themes like this, as a matter of fact I dont think LCARS should be referred to as a theme, but rather a SKIN, the difference seems minor(unless you have seen LCARS)
My handheld experience started with the palm IIIxe(the cool guys 3 series, it had 4megs, I think its been a long while) But when palm OS went color, skinning became a big part of the customization of your device.
Id like to see more themes/skins for the NIT.

heh... my first handheld device was the Apple MessagePad 110, bought on the day it was released after I had seen a co-worker's MP-100... gosh, that was a while ago, wasn't it?

All,

Urho Konttori has just updated his ThemeMaker app so that it's compatible with OS2008 (and the new maemo theme design guidelines). If you're good with Photoshop, give it a try and make your own theme(s):

(Don't forget to share them!)

Urho has also updated the Pearl theme (which looks hot!).

Oh, man.

Downloaded the updated ThemeMaker, saw the short tutorial on youtube, gave up :::sigh:::.

PhotoShop just seems a bit too technical for doing basic things like filling in shapes with a different colour and working with transperancy.

Anyone have a simpler, elementary application (OS X-ized) that can handle .png files? I had a great one for a scanner I had in OS Classic that never made the jump to OS X and ever since then, I've just kind of avoided PhotoShop whenever possible.

Or a more encompassing tutorial than the barely 2-minute one Uhro's kindly provided on youtube. I think the video suffers what happens with all brilliant, patient (and probably burned-out ) developers; the process becomes so obvious that the presenter forgets that newbies need a bit more hand-holding

*LoVe* the new theme he made, though. Lovely to see a lighter one for lighter background images.

It's a welcome change and alternative to the other, darker themes that sometimes overwhelm the background images.

Does anyone have a link to dl the new Nuvo Pearl theme ? The link on Konittorri's redirects to the Maemo site and requires a login.

You might try Acorn.

There's also Pixen, which is free.

I haven't used either, but have heard good things about both.
