Hi Bundyo,
Thank you for replying. I have OS 2008 on a N800. Hmmm, not sure what you mean by which repo - is that repository? If yes, I am not sure. Do you mean where did I download the gnumeric from?

I think I got it from here. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll poke around and try to find where I got it.

On my N800 with OS2008, the application manager does NOT offer me a choice of Gnumeric. What repository do I need to load in order to install it? I did not install Xournal, so I hope I'll have an easy install with Gnumeric.

Thanks!

one thing i can tell you that WILL fix issues is running the canola cleanup utility. i have xournal fully installed gnumeric installs but is broken.... run canola cleanup and it fixes all dependancy issues somehow.....when its about halfway through it even comes up with the dialog box asking what folder you want gnumeric in. then after , just reinstall canola and your good to go with everything!!!

What app uses xournal or where might I look in xterm to find it? tx

Never mind. After following a few links I found the answer. Not an issue for me and I installed Gnumeic without a hitch!

Try this:

Catalogue name: Maemo extras-devel
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel
Components: free non-free

I tried to install canola2 and got the install to work except for the cleanup utility. I get a "Conflict with application packages: hildon-libs0" This is part of the same message that I get when I try to install gnumeric.

Any solutions?

I ended up reinstalling the OS 2008 and starting from scratch - everything is fine now and all the apps are installing without trouble.

One more question that is bit out of this thread - when I boot gnumeric, I get the alpha keypad, and a not having ANY luck entering numeric data. What the heck??? Do you know how to get numeric values into the cells?

I think you mixed up some repositories (hildon-fm1 is in Bora).

There is a Bora repository offered in gronmayer.com/it for os2008, so be careful what you install in the app manager. I don't think that repo should be there, useful packages or not.

I'm having a somewhat different issue with gnumeric. I'm using a n800, OS2008, and I can use gnumeric just fine if I open the app and then open a file from within the app. But I can't open up a spreadsheet file straight from the file manager, it tells me the file type is not recognized. I've tried this with all the various formats that gnumeric saves in: gnumeric, cvs and xls.

Also, after saying the file format is not recognized, it asks me if I want to search for an app to open it. If I say yes it provides a list, but gnumeric is not on the list.

Does this make any sense to anyone? Does anyone know how I can fix it so I can just open up my spreadsheets from the file manager?

Thanks in advance for the consideration.
