Sorry, still no solution. Marcelo, is it possible to give me a code for Xterm to remove Canola2 completely from my Nokia N800? There must be instructions surely!?

Looking forward to hearing....

HI LKingie,

Last try, do you have canola tuning instaled? If so, try uninstalling that first..
IT's very strange because this message only appears if you have other application that uses EVAS, what doesn't seems to be the case :/

Anyways I already send the link to Etrunko, asking the name of all packages to be removed, but it's a long list :/

No, I don't have Canola Tuning installed. All I did was install Canola2 with nothing additional.

How can I tell which of my programs use *evas. Can you help me find them? I am not that tech savvy with this gadget yet so I would appreciate more help.

Thanks.

I have a similar problem (like Lingie's), right down to "-evas". Canola2 will not load -- it says it's loading but then nothing happens -- and I can't uninstall it either. When I try to uninstall, the Application Manager won't let me because of the following two files ("needed for other applications ..."): libecore0-evas and libedje0.

I posted my issue here (though I'm not sure how things proceed there): http://tinyurl.com/2lexy5

Hi Geralk,

We are actually on a Cross road: Caio was looking at your problem (and lingies) but we also need to do a lot of working before releasing the update. He knows about your problem since the day you posted, it's just because this is a hell of a time and we are really focused on releasing : /

Sorry, but we will help you guys as soon as we put this update out ok?

BR

O.K. Marcelo et al, I'm just sitting tight and waiting patiently as i know you have a promising program going. Thanks a lot.

I found 2 applications installed that is connected and used by Canola2 and no other applications:

python2.5-feedparser
python2.5-pyinotify

Neither of the 2 could be uninstalled either. I just look forward to Canola2 working. Waiting....waiting...anxiously waiting.

Marcelo, Caio et al, I certainly didn't mean to express impatience. I just don't totally have the hang yet of what to post where. I'm blown away (in a positive way!) by what I've seen of the open-source community in general and this ITT forum in particular. I don't have any serious problems, just can't run Canola. By all means, prioritize new development, and use my input if it helps with a bug fix. Someday it would be nice to be able to uninstall my Canola2 so I can move on to a properly working version, but it's not a rush. I really appreciate all the help I've been receiving already. Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Actually I think you will be able to somewhat test if you can fix it today, with the update.
Just a couple of more minutes and we will try to release it. We are in the latest stage of generating / uploading all the packages!!!

Gerald, no problem we are really eager to help, at the same time we had some huge problems in our hands =) But no worries, that's what we love to do =)

HI guys,

The solution (we tested here) appears to be :

1) connect to your device as root (we suggest you to use SSH) if you don't know how to do it, google for : SSH on internet tablets or SSH on maemo (there's a tutorial on the website)

2) After connecting as root, run the following command :

apt-get -f install

after that just answer "Y" / yes for every answer!

This should solves the problem!

Let me know!

Marcelo

Marcelo, I looked for the SSH in Maemo but it is only available for OS2007 and mine is OS2008!? Will it work? Please let me know. If there is one for OS2008 I can't locate it. Does anyone on this forum have a link?

OK. No need no need I just found this link and if it helps you people out there here it is:
http://madabar.com/techblog/2007/12/...800-to-os2008/

Now I'm going to follow Marcelo's instructions and will update later about either success or failure.

Thanks Marcelo.
