Yup, that's what I ended up doing also.

This application works really well.
Just needs proper packaging and everything and I'll recommend it to others (people who shy away from command line).

Ok, so it kinda' works. expect a new version in a couple of days,
i'll have to clean up some "deb creating" scripts (wrong permissions, dependencies ... etc etc) and try to fix some annoyances.

Thanks for the reviews guys,

Mihai

I haven't run into any problems with v. 4 at all... launched from menu, searchs, saves, plays, etc. Perhaps because it's a first install - didn't have previous versions? I didn't have python so installed wordpy first figuring it would include everything needed.

Reporting: mytube works fine in OS2008HE/770. Needs to be tweaked to use mmc1

Why don't you use mmc1 in the first place? Not everyone has mmc2...

Same here. I figured there would be a download bar or something that shows something is happening. I was watching through xterm and saw activity. So yes, add some sort of download bar or something that lets the user know it's working. Also, how would it be to include other video sites? Or would you need to make new libraries for it?

some problems exits because of different types of python
(#!/usr/bin/env python --> may point to another version)

i'll do a quick deb to force them all to user python2.5 since this apptargets it's site-packages
