Is this still a problem? Both bug 978 and 1842 indicate that this has been resolved by being fixed.

I recognize that any background process is going to consume some CPU cycles but, if you have upgraded to Diablo, has the abnormally high CPU usage of metalayer-crawler been fixed?

After my reflash, it is fine now. 10 hours later, it still reads 10 days standby, 7 hours of use.

So, I think it is safe to conclude that it was some sort of software issue.

Currently, I have the following installed:

Claws-mail
VNC Viewer
X11VNC
Vagalume
RTComm-Beta
GPE FIle manager
Midnight Commander
OpenSSH
SSHFS
Personal Menu
|||EDIT oooh, and Tear |||
...and everything is fine.

In short, I am not really sure what the problem was, only that for the time being, it is resolved.

[I could not idle for 10 hours before without the battery being dead, now it isn't even touched ]

I didn't upgrade to Diablo, I've had Diablo all along.

|||UPDATE
It's been idling for 24 hours, now reads 9 days, 6 hours

|||UPDATE
Another day, reads 7 days, 5 hours and I actually used it a little yesterday to get rid of claws and set up Modest again.
