The USA's telecoms play by different rules then the rest of the world. And I think Nokia rather just skip focusing on the USA for now and opting for focusing on Europe and Asia.
And then come back later and get the USA if the situation improves in the US. As is the n900 can only run on AT&T and TMobile networks). TMobile being the only one supporting 3G speeds, and AT&T supporting only Edge speeds.
AT&T has the iPhone for now (and their adoption of other smartphones, e.g. Android, Pre,etc..) is slow probably due to them worrying about upsetting their relationship with Apple. TMobile has their hands full with Android.
So I don't think Nokia cares so much about the US market right now.
I am in the US too and have no Nokia store like NYC has, so even less awareness here in the great state of Kentucky
Still, support is kind of nice when spending $620 delivered on a product. The N900, like any sexy lady, has seduced me with its hardware and sweetness. Question is, when I let it in the door is it going to turn on me and leave?
I actually like that the device probably will ship at the end of the month. Gives me more time to see if this N900 will be loyal or dump me before the honeymoon is over.
Sorry, too many analogies.
BTW, I was in the Marines for years and also lived in England for four years (wife is from there). I gots' some serious international skills
I appreciate the perspective.... I miss living in England- pubs, Page 3 girls, Indian food. Mmmmmm.

Also, the device is no more a phone than it is an FM transmitter, a keyboard, or a GPS receiver. It has a phone capability. It's not a phone, and it's not marketed as such.

zerojay, the irony is there are more geeks in them thar' hills than you would think. Broad band is everywhere!
fnordianslip- Great point, but what the heck is it suppose to be? Lack of ID in marketing to consumers equals geek-only sales.
