Is this a Google haters thread?
What if Nokia chose webkit for HTML rendering? Would Apple be better than Google? Oh, and Google is involved in Webkit, too. The Android browser renders using Webkit.
Or Opera? Well, earlier versions of Maemo had an Opera browser. Nokia dropped it because they had no control over it and there were hardly any updates.

but: nokia never intended to produce a device based on GNU/linux becaue of ideology or any moral issues. it's not the aim of the N900 or any othe Maemo based device to be best in class when it comes to these issues. i bet they're not even discussed inside Nokia.

Someone on this site suggested to read (or listen) to a book called Free! Why $0.00 Is the Future of Business. It really opened my mind to how Google works.
A Google Boycott or other such things would actually hurt the internet in a sense. Ah, just get the book... its FREE!

google tries VERY hard to do no evil inn accordance with its corporate vision, but it gets to a point where evenn the most well meaning giant finds it hard to put a foot down anywhere without making an imprint.
We like linux because it is the best and not necessarily out of dislike of others for their popularity. It just happens that at the current time, google is simultaneously the best and the most popular at search.
