N900 locked down by Tmo..... I will pass thank you. I have a G1 and a Dash from Tmo. I will never buy another locked device- unless I get one free on contract and sell it on eBay.

The whole reason Nokia smartphones aren't common in the US is Nokia's position that they don't want carriers hamstringing their subsidized models. What makes you think that they'd change their tune for the N900?

It would be very interesting to watch this tug-of-war between Nokia and T-Mo, if it weren't for the dilemma we're faced with about whether or not to buy the damn thing. Is it just me, or has there been a lack of communication between both companies and potential buyers and developers on the subject of the N900? This being the first device whose launch I'm watching as closely, I don't know what to calibrate this against. However, it seems that with most manufacturers (with the exception of Nokia and possibly Motorola), the marketing is more clear and direct. How many Blackberry device and carrier announcements and actual deliveries have taken place since we heard about the N900, where the announcement to delivery time has been measured in weeks?

@ JSUGGS The point was that Nokia has held to their guns for this long. I really don't see them bending over a gadget that will be a minor player in the US market no matter how it's marketed or made available.

Even if they bring one, I am not going to get the N900 through them since I will be forced to renew my plan which long expired and still have a data plan of $5 unlimited. Can't beat that.
