I have an associate's degree from community college, and I'm doing okay.
Are you buying an N900?

Here are some discussions:

I haven't tried this so I don't know how easy it is. Good luck.
Woah there, buddy.

There are two versions of Android for the tablets, and they are both awful ... (no offense intended towards the developers)....

1. The version of straight Android that installs inside of Maemo
Hardly runs... I think you *might* be able to click the screen... maybe...

2. NITdroid
Installs as a replacement of Maemo, but has no sound (which is a big buzzkill IMO)

So... let's *not* tell people they should use these as Maemo replacements... Diablo still pwnz until Mer comes out.

Thank you for your time.

Well, I bought my n810 last year in Canada; unfortunely I didn't know that here in my fu**ed country (Italy) it will be unusefull because of the very low number of free hotspots wifi.
Anyway, still now I wasn't able to run a gps navigator; unable to feel a good gaming experience; impossible to find a graphic editor because I'm a graphic designer.
Maemo is unuseful for a simple user looking for good multimedia experience; looking for infos on the web about running this or that app, you must have at least a IT master degree.

Speak to me as simple you can: n810 has ARM processor, a lot of Win Mo devices use ARM processors, I-Phone has a ARM processor: why can't I use on my n810 WIN MO or I-Phone OS as main OS?

Please answer me or I'll never use again my N810 and I'll buy an I-Phone.
at one point i've felt just like you, but now i'm glad i hung in there. the n810 is a truly amazing device. gps will work if you learn how to use it. same with much of the other software. the lack of manuals drove me nuts too. if you can invest a little time and patience, reading about it on this site, and playing with the device, it can pay off in a big way.

Go on.....

At least you have meatballs and beautiful women...

For GPS, you can use the pre-installed map application with (pay :-/) Wayfinder or the Maemo-Mapper program (which I use and love).

For gaming, there is a plethora of emulators, as well as the games made for Maemo. Have you tried Drnoksnes SNES emulator? It's quite nice. Also, apparently you can use a Wii-mote.

As far as graphics editors goes, I'm not sure, but have you seen the N8*0 Art Thread? They're using something good over there, there's GREAT examples of designs made on tablets.

Because Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are evil, evil men.

Well, threats aren't the best way to go, but hopefully some of the info I've provided above will help you out, at least a little.

</good deed for the day>
jay: they don't have meatballs, that's an american invention. everything else: right on.

THIS is how a nice italian sauce bolognese is supposed to look like.

This is just what I hate about maemo. If I pay for anykind of stuff, I just want to use it and don't loose anymore time studying how to use it.

For the rest: Here we have meatballs and beautiful women?

I never heard Italy is the country of meatballs and, just to let you know, my wife is Albanian so...

From such point of view, I think that an Iphone or also a Symbian smartphone could be a better choice than Maemo devices, which up to now have needed some tinkering for unveiling their full potential.
Maybe with the n900 the user experience might be easier, and require less bugzilla or command line.
Me, I prefer to both use & hack my devices, hence I'm with Maemo.

Comunque, ti consiglio di dare un'occhiata all'n900 prima di cambiare parrocchia e passare alle mele
