With extras and extras-testing, are there not risks installing these?
Im thinking specifically of the post I saw about someone filling their system partition up in a couple of days? I'm presuming that was becuase the apps were not n900 optimised??
a package needs to pass quality control before it can go to extras. this includes the memory issues you read about as well as a lot of other things (performance, battery usage, critical bugs, ...)

so: extras is safe. whats not safe for end users is extras-devel and -testing.

Good point. That should be on the n00bs wiki.

you might want to link to
http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-testing/QA_Checklist

while this page is essentially for devs who test each others packages, it might be comforting for end users to know which aspects are regarded important.

Yesterday I was commemorating the 27 app and suddenly we passed to 32 (Mauku 2.0, Microfeed backend, Sliderule 1.0.2-1, Nako 0.5.0-1, Droid Fonts 1.01)
This is a much better passing time instead of complaining for the delay of the N900.
It’s a pity that we can't test.

Variations on Rockdodger
This one looks great.
We are with 40.
Anybody knows if the people from offscreen technologies will put all their application and games on maemo. I have tons of amazing material from them in my 5800 xpressmusic. If they are using Qt, I guess it should be easy????

That's a mighty big IF. Considering the first official Symbian supporting Qt is 4.6 (not yet released), I would be very surprised if any commercial, currently widely deployed Symbian application was based on Qt.
