The two things I would like to see implemented would be a play count for music and a nice, customisable equaliser for both music and audio.

Also, the ability to set a brightness setting just for viewing videos would be nice. It's always a pain to keep changing the brightness just for a movie

I want lyric reading!!! Some of these enhancement have already been requested/reported to Bugzilla, but many hasn't yet so why don't you report them? That would help a lot.

Tunewiki is available on the desktop as a widget and works for the most part. Put it side by side with the media player widget (as I have, also the FM transmitter widget there) and you have the lyrics appearing as well.

Tunewiki works only with a valid network connection, I want something that reads lyric directly from the mp3 tag. Something like the iPod function, you know (I do not have an iPod actually, but I've seen that possibility from my friends' iPods).

Music Player

1. Please show Song Artist rather than album artist. This really annoys me. All my compilation albums show up as Various Artist rather than the person that sang the song playing. For non-compilation albums it will only show Michael Jackson rather than Michael Jackson ft Heavy D.

2. Way to search albums, genres, etc the same way the address book works. ie if I am in albums and I start typing W-R-I it only shows albums beginning with W-R-I which on my device should only show Writings on the Wall.

3. Option to show album art in full screen like on ipod touch. I quite like that. Gives some real eye candy.

4. Please, please improve the random feature. If I am playing a list of 2,000 songs on random it plays the songs in the exact same order each time. So if I go back to that list I have to keep forwarding till it gets to the first song I haven't yet listened to. This is not what random is about at all.

5. Portrait mode a necessity of course.

6. When the screen is off and the song has changed it displays for a second the previous song that was playing before the screen went off. This annoys me a bit. But not a problem with the music player alone I don't think though. More a problem with the device. When the screen is blank it just takes time to refresh. For example if the screen is off and I get a call it can take as long as three seconds for the answer button, etc to light up. Just get a blank screen with a ringing phone.

7. Good software for synching. Everything I have tried just syncs to the main folder of the device rather than the music folder (Windows Media Player, Winamp, Media Monkey). Ovi Music does not work at all.

Video Player

1. Please improve the buffering or whatever it's called. Hate the way videos stutter for the first few seconds. Not a big deal if all you have is movies but big deal when you have something like the 100m World Championship final which is over in 9.58 seconds but the device is stuttering for 7.58 seconds.

2. An option to sort videos into custom categories rather than just film and videos recorded on the device. I want to have things like Music Videos, Football, Athletics, TV Shows, etc. Two categories is just bad (I though ipod touch was daft for having just about four).

3. An option to strectch to full screen.

Glad to see other ppl are also interested to develop a better media player experience

After playing my videos today I noticed a new area to develop in the media player

7. Adding support for on-continious video playback.
Description: Instead of returning back to videos section after viewing a video file the phone could automatically start playing the next one

and update on my 6. point, it seems that n900 has created a thumbnail close to 80% of my videos (not sure are these the file I have player or..?)

I can't delete a song from the list of all songs. How do i highlight it and then choose delete? As soon as I tap it plays. I don't want it to play and i don't know the artist name because I haven't listened to it before I just transfered a bunch of music from my pc that I got from Nexus radio. I figured I'd just delete what I don't want.
Plugging in the charger renders play button not working on media player widget sometimes.

Press and hold on the file/track until it gived you a right-click-style menu. There should be a delete option there.

If it's in File Manager, then you have to choose delete files from the title bar, and tick all the ones you want to delete, and then press delete.

This, more than anything else.
