i will try the signal boost, but this is all immaterial if you need to charge your device at the same time. this makes the unit much worse..and the fact that you cannot switch channels easily

therefore i will stick to a universal one. it has better signal, ability to switch channels easily and you can charge at the same time- its a no brainer

True. Laws in my country set the maximum power of consumer FM transmitters pretty low. I don't believe even the best available transmitters can fully overpower radio stations here.

This might be part of the problem with Nokia, they do have to sell N900 globally. The frequency area of N900 is smaller than allowed here though. I am under impression that the chip on N900 could support a wider range.

Yep mine works fine. Very happy with it in fact.

Range is not as good while plugged in but thats a bug me thinks.

Fair enough...if that's the case, you may have to break down and get a new head unit that supports aux in, be it RCA or mini-headphone.

i tried in 2 cars without any problems
also works great at home when tuned my sound system to n900

the moon has alot of free fm frequencies so you dont count

Have tried mine in probably 15 different cars and some trucks. Works great. It's even possible to use the same frequency as a radio station, it will override it and the car parked next to you can pick up the signal.
Guess it depends on witch country you live in how strong the FM transmitter is.

the car isnt the biggest issue its the location you live in , i doubt its the strengh of the device- i am sure it is set to the lowest one for all(could someone confirm)but the available fm frequencies in your part of the world.

in many places you have to partly go over something else- to do that you need a very strong transmittor. if you are in a place with totally free frequencies you wont have an issue..

i once had a device that had an 87.9 setting and a peaugot that could receive 87.9- it was great as its not standard in the uk and i left it on all the time..
