btw. Cpu usage tells off course something about battery usage, but thats just half truth. Some process or driver might use lots of power without using any cpu (wifi for example). Just saying that top doesnt give all the information.

So is there any program that tells wattage consumption per driver/process?

After the update I can put the original calendar widget back to desktop without it sucking my battery empty in six hours

Mine has increased about triple of battery life I had before the update.
Before I got 8 to 10 hours with all on, and now its the 25th hour running and the battery is still not empty (about 10% left).

I use wifi and 3G on (using hourly connection search), full backlight, skype, internet, phone, calender, (no other widgets), mail every hour, a little video and music.

I didn't change anything. The update worked for me!

I got my N900 yesterday, updated the latest firmware, and I left it to charge for about 12 hours, now at school I have about 25% left and have used it for 2 hours :E Little video, internet, music and been on Wlan, I disabled 3G etc. hmm.. I also have GPS disabled, backlight brightness on 2,And I don't have any widgets etc, only stuff on first page, I hope the battery gets better after I recharge.

I'm experiencing less duration of the battery. But I think I've found my problem, because battery is draining when I'm at work. Here I'm in a centric place. As I can see, now the phone is continuosly changing from 2G, to 3G and to 3.5G. So I think in the update they set a minor update period, and it's using more battery. When I'm at home it uses the same or less battery.

That was my experience in the first couple of days. But somehow after a couple of charge cycles the battery seemed to get better. Currently getting around ~18 hours with moderate use (this includes a couple of phone calls, web surfing, gaming, youtube, email).

Also the Facebook widget on the homescreen is apparently a real battery killer.

Yeah, I know, I've read most topics in here so :E
But the phone itself.. It's great, compared to my iPhone.

Well my battery used to last me 36hours + on one charge. Which was F*****G awesome. Now errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr only last me less than 12hours with the same amount of usage.
My CPU seem to be sky rocket all the time when opening SMS, scrolling around also RED LIGHT OF DEATH lol.

Random SKip and freezing while typing. So crazy and I went through 2 genuine full charged batteries today for the first time since I got the device.

could it be you guys have apps from extras devel and testing which are not fully compatible with the new firmware? i would suggest removing all apps/plugins which have not passed through extras testing. take note of all the apps you installed after the update (no doubt you've sucked the ovi store dry)
There's too many vairables to figure out what the problem is so just cut them out and put it back to known working apps. Even some apps that have passed through testing may need to be tweeked. there was nothing mentioned in the changelog about refresh rate on the gsm bands.
