The Firmware is really snappy for me everything responds instantly.
Are you sure its not something you've installed that's causing it.

Its snappy in general but at times slows down - thats the nature of the OS at the moment imo.

I haven't noticed it being slow in general, and neither have the reviewers.

I haven't had a single slowdown.
MediaPlayer is instantly open, with all songs, and covers.
Typing on homescreen does open instantly the contacts!
Messaging: the same.
Browsing was fast on 1.0, too.
But I've no problems with my device at all. No dead pixels, no mic problem, no camera problem, everything is fine.
I wish I can help you.
Please tell us, which programs you have installed.

Don't have any issues like this at all myself. It's quite snappy everywhere.

How could you ever stop that from happening on an open device?!

Maemo is lacking in a few features for sure which Nokia should be called out for, but I can't possibly see how it could be fair to attack them for something that is inherit in an open device if you use it as such.

1. The music player is terrible slow, my sisters 5220 is some 100% faster then the n900. Sometimes it won't find all the song as today it only found the artists starting with A. When I restarted the musicplayer it didnt find any songs at all so after a few times I decided to listen to internet radio and was almost throwing away the device in anger.

2. But often it does not respond to my finger when I do ctrl + backspace and try to switch to another app

3. When I start to type at desktop to get a contact it takes like 5sec before something happends

4. When opening up preference and try to scroll down I come back to desktop(when Im to fast and I have seen the gui is up and running)

5. When using xournal the text i write often comes 1sec after I have written it. And when I open up a contact and start to write my text I write takes really a lot of time to show up and the text in history too.

Now Im not sure if its the general OS or separate bugs. Lets hope a lot of the details/small bugs get fixed in the next update (I give it 6 months)

Microb is fast and smooth (most of time but not bookmarks scrolling and rubberband effect at end)

Conversations scrolling, image gallery scrolling, image changes, album view (generally all media player views) are jerky.

Somewhere it is fast and somewhere its still bit slow and jerky.

If you search bugzilla entrys you can find these "bugs" & enchantments.

If you say that animation is smooth entirely across maemo UI you should buy new glasses or use some other device which is optimized and after then try N900 AND yes No programs running on background

I think you have to tell us a bit more about the software you have installed... How much free rootfs space you have etc...?
