yes my stand is held in by a small magnet which moves with stand. ie it has clearly come away from the back cover!

if i hold the magnet in place against the back cover everything works fine!

i've only had the phone for a couple of weeks so expect others may suffer from this.

i think a little solvent may secure it again.

btw this is not a gripe and i dont want this thread used in that way. I LOVE THIS DEVICE.

Hey man I thought there are 2 magnets on the device. One is stuck to the back cover and another one is on the stand. Unless one is fall out by accident then i dont see why it doing that. lol

do you know how the n900 recognizes that the backcover is removed?
is it done with the camera-system which detects if the cover is closed or opened by just "looking at" a white or black square?
(and if there isn't any of them it says "no backplate"?! o.O)

It's a magnetic sensor. And if the magnet becomes loose... there's the explanation
