Something fishy there. The Fremantle Extras package should appear in my app manager: it doesn't, and the .deb from the maemo.org page doesn't install (incompatible package or some such)...
Have you tryed apt-get? It usually works when app manager fails.

I believe I did at some point... got "package not found" or some such. I just need to take the time to upgrade to 2.6...

Zim looks like the app I wanted for notes on the N900.

New release 0.46-maemo4-1 is available at the download page.
Many thanks to querty12 who helped building the binary components needed for this release.

New features from zim 0.44:
This release adds the possibility to add external applications to the menu as "custom tools" and it adds Latex as an export format. The responsiveness of the application has been improved by using threading to allow asynchronous operations and a memory leak in the index was fixed. Other fixes are that backlinks and the index page now work properly for export templates. Translations were added for Hebrew, Japanese and Turkish.

And this maemo release adds:
Dialogs size fixes.

Installed it and played around with it for 20 minutes and I must say it's a VERY impressive note taker.

It was very intuitive and within a few minutes I had created, and started to fill in a skeleton structure of company/site visit information. I think I may enjoy this application.

There are certain things I wish it had - the first one was when you collapse a tree-node where there are nodes under it - there is no indicator "+" showing that there are nodes hidden that can be expanded. That threw me off a few times.

Do you know when/if it will be available from Extras?

Thanks for this.

It seems it was a stupid design decision in maemo gtk. I'm looking if I'm able to fix it.

Yes, it will be available in Extras someday. It needs a working makefile for the autobuilder. May be in the next major release, once pc and maemo branches are merged.

Thanks.
I'm actually continuing to use it today and added sub-pages to all the companies I visit (10+ of them) with a sub-page for 'visits' where I list upcoming ones and have a check-box to check off if it was done or not, payment info, etc.

Really nice app!

Just installed it using 'dpkg -i' after it failed with app manager.

On first impression it seems very usable and practical.
I think I'll be using it as my default app for notes... :-)

I did face one issue though... there seems no way out from full screen mode ...? or perhaps I'm missing something obvious.

Anyways thanks a lot for a great app!

The fullscreen button should work just like any other hildon application.
Also, menu->view->fullscreen

Really enjoying it.
I set up with multiple 'home nodes' so that I have one specifically for 'quick, random notes' and some with a more structured purpose.

This might be become app #21 in my sig soon lol
