For some reason, disabling extra-devel didn't work for me (I just was not able to find maemo-pc-connectivity in App Manager after that). But I found another way to install.

The problem is not maemo-pc-connectivity itself, but one of dependencies - avahi-daemon. The most recent version (0.6.24-0maemo1) has missing dependency upstart-jobs, and this is clearly pointed out in package description.

I installed Avahi-daemon 0.6.24-0maemo0, and after this maemo-pc-connectivity has been installed successfully.

Actually, I installed all packages manually through dpkg. Most likely maemo-pc-connectivity will be installed successfully through App Manager if avahi-daemon 0.6.24-0maemo0 has been installed previously.

But nevertheless, if someone will also need to install manually, then below is complete (hope this ) list of needed packages (in alphabetical order):

The solution silence has posted above, works just fine.
But just a little remark for those who are new to Linux and/or N900 like me:
A manually install means to me to use the apt-get command.

So here is how I did it:

* Be sure that the extras-devel repository is deactivated
* install the roothsh
* open the X Terminal and gain root with sudo gainroot
* type in apt-get install avahi-deamon
* open the program manager and activate the extras-devel
* install pc-connectivity...

and hopefully enjoy a powerful tool ;-)
