I am guessing when you connect via you local wifi you can't browse the internet from the phone.

Your local wifi should setup the phone using DHCP to tell it what DNS servers, default gateway and ip address to use.

If your local wifi isnt doing this then it is possible your local wifi is not correctlly configured.

Does a laptop connect correctly to the internet via your wifi?

oh yes it does as i m using my laptop now with wireless internet. everything works 100% fine here and so does with my N900. Its just Application manager which isn't working at all with my wifi nor mobile internet.
is there anything i can do?? should i flash my phone??
Also, is there any way i can install Rootsh without using application manager as i m tryin to try "apt-get update" on my terminal.

P.S
on the nokia website, it says the latest firmware is 2.2 but i dont know why my phone has a firmware of 3.2.
any idea why this is happening?

If you want to get your n900 working the quickest way by far instead of going round in circles trying to fathom out the fault is to re-flash your fw so i suggest you do that as will take no more than 20 mins to complete JOB FINISHED and n900 working.
Do a backup of your device to your pc using pcsuite before you flash.
Here is the link to the official Nokia guide to flashing ok.

Incidently if your n900 has the leaked fw then you will have no choice but to re-flash using that fw as going back to a previous fw from that is giving many problems so dont do it, if you got version 10.2010.12-9 on your about product in the main menu then you got the leaked fw, if you got the official version of any fw then download the latest OFFICIAL fw and flash that to your device.
The last official fw is the .bin file ....
RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin
Thats the one to download and flash with.
Hope this helps.
