So I downloaded roots. Typed it in x term. Put in the comments as well. Installed and uninstalled it. I still see the MMS connection in the internet connections list under settings. Would flashing take care of this? I don't want to go through the trouble of no.1 figuring out how to flash correctly, no.2 losing all data I have accumulated since only to see that this MMS connection is still sitting in my phone.
So still hoping someonw would be able to help.

argh. Yes I think that is the issue. My phone keeps using the MMS to continuously pull data. It is still very very hot. and the activity monitor on my phone shows significant flux in activity.
Normally, I don't connect to wifi. I use only the t mobile internet. Unless I manually disconnect the MMS and reconnect using the tmobile internet, I can't access my emails or surf. I am work now. Don't have wifi here. So have to check at home.

Open X-Terminal and enter: /opt/fmms/fmms_config.py and press enter.

If you really want to remove a connection, go to Settings and Internet connections. There you'll find a Delete button.

Try the apn solution in the wiki - it's not the solution I used: Frals has clearly found a better solution than the fiddly way of fixing it we used when fmms was new. If that fixes the apn problem, at least you'll know whether that's causing the overheating (which would cause the battery drain).
I find I can read some webpages but nothing else if I'm on the mms apn - what you can access varies according to provider and what they allow over WAP, I think.
Edit: Just realised you're surfing at work. Here's the solution from the wiki:
