Just so you know, FreOffice IS buggy right now, but I would say it is definitely worth installing. It's buggy in a "half the time every letter you type is capitalized until you do some voodoo to make that go away" way, not the "makes N900 crash" way. I've had extras-devel enabled from almost the first day I had this device. I'm a Linux newb, but I find that if you're willing to learn, and smart enough to look through what information is available on an app before installing it from there, you'll be fine. I have yet to introduce instabilities into my device.

I myself have done some of my book editing and writing on the N900 in FreOffice, and it's not that bad. I guess it's a matter of personal preference, but I feel that if you're used to the keyboard, the typing isn't that uncomfortable. The only bad part about FreOffice is limited file format support. You can open .doc files, for instance, but not save in them. So if that's a problem, I'd say go for running OpenOffice.

Honestly, I don't see why no one bothered to port OpenOffice to the N900 still. There's no doubt in my mind that the N900 could run it, even if start-up would be a bit slow. I suspect it's merely that all the good programmers have better things to do, and OpenOffice in EasyDebian is just good enough to make it not worth it to bother.
