I don't see any conflict between the N900 being described as an "internet tablet phone" as you put it and whether it runs full flash and java. The Internet doesn't run on flash or java.

the conflict is if i can not do the same internet task on the n900 as on my dell running vista / browser firefox then im not getting what i would have expected, if you bought a car and drove around in it that is what you would expect? if you bought another manufactures car but could not drive it as there was no transmission you would not accept it? to say they are both cars is correct but one dose not behave the same as the other so you would be let down in your expectations would you not??

fenair,

i feel your pain. the only way for me to access my schedule etc. on company website is to use (jurassic) SABRE applet that runs on java and to do that i have to run Iceweasel, a version of Firefox, off Easy Debian image.

instructions for ED are found here http://wiki.maemo.org/Easy_Debian

don't be intimidated by the wiki, read it carefully and follow the instructions. in no time you will have a "full" Debian OS running on your N900. after that, regardless of website, it will treat your N900 as a full desktop/laptop. you can thank "qole" for it, one of the smartest guys around on maemo.org.
