I just sent the following text to Myriad software´s Sales/Marketing department through the contact form at:
http://www.myriadgroup.com/Contact-Us.aspx

Please, please, please strongly consider selling Alien Dalvik to end users.

As a N900 owner, and maintainer of multiple other N900´s, such a release, which would never be accomplished through Nokia itself, would be immensely beneficial and valuable to device owners and many of them would be willing to pay a good sum for this software.

As it already runs on Maemo 5 / N900, there´s no good reason to make such a good effort go to waste. GPS navigation software vendor Sygic (www.sygic.com) has I believe had very good experience releasing software to N900 owners directly, as opposed to through Nokia and Ovi Store.

As the following discussion thread shows on the webpage of N900 / Maemo owners there is quite some interest for this software.
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=70237
I say that we send them requests and hope that they go the Sygic way or allow a young programmer earn a extra dime selling this through a sidedoor.

If we flood them with friendly requests, we might have a tiny little chance of success, but we probably don´t have any if we just talk amongst ourselves here on the chatboard.

Hi Ravikumar,

Thank you for your interest.

Alien Dalvik, like the rest of Myriad’s portfolio, is sold directly to operators and device manufacturers. We are currently in discussions with a number of our customers regarding Alien Dalvik and future deployments will be determined by market demand.

All the best,

Angie Fife on behalf of Myriad Group

Don't ask for a port of "Alien Dalvik", ask for a port of Dalvik, with comparable performance to Dalvik/Alien Dalvik.

The former is legally and possibly code-wise impossible, the latter, however, is pretty much doable if someone savvy enough wants to spend the time.
