Thanks for info - of course, I know what Arduino is. I'm just wondering, if existing packages for linux plays nicely for recording IR signals via Arduino (cause, it got problems, when connected via serial to USB adapter.

As for USB, I was thinking about compass build-in inside Mugen Cover, connected to N900 all the time, without requiring bluetooth, to be enabled. May be little complicated, though - cause need for small USB hub build-in.

Could you post a foto of your hardware here?

it would be _so_ appreciated.

@theonelaw
You have to wait for 1 month.
I'm now in hollydays in Brasil.

I had planned to put a video on youtube.
But nobody seemed to be interested on the first time.

But anyway: The hardware is described exactely in this thread. With my indications you will find photos of everything on ebay.

What I did is the work of a noob.

But for my friends on this forum I will put photos of my work. Everybody will see that I am an ignorant. But it works.
(I've to cut it off, because I've glued everything together.)

@Estel
I don't think that you will have problems with the serial-by-usb on arduino because it has a smart chip. You have only to adapt the script on the n900 to look at the usb-port instead of bluetooth. I think that's all. You send the infrared-information by a "print"-command to the n900 and the n900 receives it as ascii-text

EDIT: Estel, I've looked at the internet: Serial-over USB seems to be more difficult than I thought. I'm not the right person to answer this question.
Did you have a look at this:
