There's an official SDL library now, will that help?

And since most DOS games are 4:3, why not put a soft keyboard on both sides (landscape) or below the screen (portrait), just like in iOS?

Giving just the N950 and not a single N9 to developers was a horrible idea, I'm seeing lots of projects where the developers say "N9? Get a bluetooth keyboard..." (meaning- "it works on my N950, why should I bother?")

Did you see the latest Nokia earnings report? Projected N9 sales: 1.4 million units; all N950 units ever made: 2.500.

Sorry, I wish I could help instead of ranting about it, but I don't know a line of C++. I have been trying to read the platform documentation and I had installed the SDK, but at that time I did not have an N9 and uninstalled it.

This can be done with Xkbd.

Ask around to get it ported for your newer tablet.

Would love to see a full on (read usable) dosbox on the N9. Then again, I would also like to see Hatari, Atari800, etc. Basically all the emulators ported.

Right now we have Emumaster, which supports NES, SNES, Amiga, PSX, GBA and Genesis (I was going to ask for this, but had just installed the newer version of Emumaster today. Score!).

DosBox should run some of the newer games much better than the N900 too. I really want a mobile version of Daggerfall Though I'm not entirely how playable that'd be on a touch screen...

But I think before we talk about some of the computers being emulated, we really should make sure that bluetooth keyboards are an option. Do we have any recommendations for those?

Yes, but using Emumaster as an example, the Amiga emulator is almost unusable because games expect an Amiga to have a keyboard. It is a TODO in the official site, but the developer's recommended solution in the meantime is... wait for it... "use a bluetooth keyboard" :P

re: Bluetooth keyboards: I'm making a note to go and test one I've seen for the iPad, very, very small. Too bad they don't have a trackpoint or a trackpad...

I just built dosbox-0.74 for harmattan using patched libsdl which is in public repo. Everything works fine and took a little test ride on SkyRoads (on N950 with hw keyboard).
I think the next step would be trying to get that window embedded in or over QDeclarativeView and try to make some custom game controllers from there...

I just found out that the N9 does not understand the HID profile. It needs to be hacked to pair with a bluetooth keyboard!!!

"custom game controllers" sounds like the way forward for anyone lacking a HW keyboard, that's a lot of games to customise to though! Perhaps what is required is a menu option to assign keys within dosbox? Maybe somehow minimize the dosbox window to make the keys easier to hit? Sounds easy huh? lol

I couldn't all the games I wanted to run on my N900, played a few propper old dosgames I used to place but I wouldn't have thought settlers would run... couldn't get Stunts to work nor Heretic... Probably could overclocked though, Damn you ppl with faster CPU's!

I played settler on my old WInMo device, 500MHz CPU, 200MB RAM

The missing rightclick was a mess though...
