It is a bug which is very easy to correct but has been carried through all 3 versions. You are right that many areas in the wild have no data service and so will be unable to use sportstracker. I will email support@sports-tracker.com again to highlight to them.

Lenght of the trip was doubled which is rly annoying..

Yes, it is well off when compared to my Polar Watch i use at the same time (mountainbiking with Polar watch & speed sensor). Mind you, the Symbian version was out too but not this much...
