I couldn't find cron port for os2008, but I found the one for os2007 and it seemed to work except that @reboot doesn't seem to be supported. That was my solution for running my xmodmap at boot automatically instead of opening a terminal each time to run it (@reboot xmodmap /home/user/xmodmaprc). Putting it in .profile doesn't seem to work, and of course there is no .bashrc since the n810 uses busybox/ash.

Have link to the os2008 specific port?

According to the repository list at gronmayer.com/it, the only cron port listed for OS2008 is at the Dayless repository. I haven't tried it though.

Thanks, I went and installed it, but It never started on reboot which sort of made it useless for me. I just went back to the older version for OS2007 which seems to run perfectly, except that I can't get @reboot to trigger a cron script.

I dunno if its supported, or if it has to do with the way the OS Boots. Basically, I am just trying to run a script to load my xmodmap and sync the hardware clock on boot/reboot.

Running xmodmap on boot won't work; the x server has to be up... There's some stuff around regarding starting a browser on startup, which should be (easily adaptable to) what you need.

I tried adding my xmodmap in the same place as they said for the browser startup, but still a no-go (I'll go look at it again). I wish Busybox/Ash had a .rc file to dump all that stuff in. Would make life a lot easier.

the "/home/user/.osso/hildon-desktop/home-background.conf" file is the config file you're looking for. It lists the file name of the wallpaper, and more importantly, it lists the name of the cached background.

EDIT: Replaced the cached image, but nothing happens. Tried restarting matchbox-window-manager, didn't do anything. Don't want to restart hildon-desktop, because all apps are closed if you do that... Went to Home / Set Background Image / Preview and copied image is displayed.
