Ansii Vanjoki sure thinks it's coming....
Yes, for Maemo - not explicitly the current version of Maemo and no mention of what devices the Maemo version will run on.

I personally don't think our complains about this announcement and its completely ignorance about N900 is being heard by Nokia.
Isn't there a better channel we could all fill complains about the lack of support for N900? I guess at least comments on Engadget or similar sites would bring more attention since it would be hurting Nokia's image directly. Maemo.org audience is basically just Nokia owners...

This really sucks...Do you really think after all those fireworks they are going to let the N900 out of it?
I hope they don't!

With no sources at all it doesn't look too trustworthy...

No - just shity journalism. The quote is: 'moving forward it will also support Maemo'

So it could just be that the next Maemo 6 device will have it. Nokia mention neither Maemo5 nor the N900. The writter just jumps to conclusions.

The whole discussion over this issue reminds me on the apple tablet lunacy. There is no clear official information available (yet) but many think they know that Nokia will do this or that.

We don't know yet.

Just calm down and wait a few days for official information.

This was an offical announcement - there shouldn't be this confusion. Poor Nokia PR.. again.

i dont have a blog but i want to bore you the same with my theory:

if nokia announces (and decides) that it will come to n900 that will break the agreement with sygic. if announces (and decides) that it wont it will piss off a lot of people just a couple of days before the apple event.
and more important: a symbian phone, today, is a smartphone for dumb people. problem is that dumb people today buys iphones. and more dumb people will buy iphones in the future, in a few days we will see iphone 4 and all. nokia must give dumb people something cause theres plenty of unsold n97 out there.

then n900 is almost sold out everywhere. and certainly nokia doesnt need to push it right now. im pissed of about this but im not gonna sell it either. and nokia doesnt need dumb people to buy n900. too much cost for support, and it would ruin the product image.

obviously its just my theory

If this is Nokias Big Announcement...I find it sad. I never understood how large corporations think that something as lame as this would help them. From a consumer point of view....
I have the n900 and it version of the nav software just like others versions before on other devices....is just a bad user experience. So for someone like me who has only owned Nokia devices...to see an announcement like this makes me keep thinking maybe I should look at other devices. They just dont "get it"
I keep hoping Nokia sees the light, but like many other corporations its not about quality for the most part...its about share holders and quick profit.
It has been said many times that the n900 is a nokia project, a geek device, not a main stream device.
In one aspect I love that because it is a geek device, but on the other hand I hate it because it slows development.
I started playing with Maemo on the n800, and like many others have seen nokia time and time again....leave it to the community to fix it. Wrong attitude. Your team is only as good as your leader!
This is not a rant, just an opinion. I still hold hope for Nokia and hope they can remain relevant. They make kick *** hardware, and have a lot of good ideas. They just need to get their act together.
I'm glad Google is in the phone business now as I cant stand Apple. Microsoft in a couple months will also be joining the race. There have also been rumors of others to follow as well, and I think the more options there are the better. At this point in time I think things have become for the most part stagnant/standard. We need more innovation out there.
