have you tried reading the previous comments?

delete some apps and click update. Else use your pc and update using Nokia Software Updater

and search a little next time.

You'd think, but no. Since a mature version of Diablo, you could even update the kernel OTA. I'm not sure, but maybe even the late stage bootloader could be updated OTA.

yes i notice that somwhat the device runs smoother even when the application manager is installing apps.

Hi, try to reboot your N900, it helps to clean up, than run update again.

got it (Middle East Version) - GPS seems to update quicker in Maps - and find the right spot. Before it could be quite a lot off....

Disable extras-testing and extras-devel repositories, that by itself will clear up enough rootfs for the update.
