scph1001 was in /mydocs so i wanted to move it to /home/user
I opened xterm
I typed:
mv /home/user/Mydocs/scph1001.bin /home/user/ then press return
note upper case on the M on Mydocs and any other files which have capitals in that you want to move or look into - xterm is case sensitive
another tip - after every / press Tab twice on the screen and it will bring up what options are available in that particular folder or path.
also if you type /h press tab once it will bring up /home/ and this will work with anything as long as its a valid path or folder
Then if you want to check that it moved correctly
in Xterm type:
/home/user/ then press Tab twice above the command line it will show you what is in /home/user/ and you should see the file that you have just moved.
NOTE
I am still learnig alot about command line in xterm so if i have made any mistakes please let me know.
