I would say no. Don't make another repository, we already have the good -devel and -testing repository that would be fine enough.
Moreover in the best case all this applications will be available for the community through to the official "extras" repository one day...

Just my opinion.

I think that's a great idea, add yourself down for it

Im sure you know there has already been some work done on this

Get the slow framerate solved and you might have a winner!

Sorry to be late responding to paypal requests.

Nokia was open to the idea of a community paypal account but asked me some time ago to put it on hold (in hindsight, due to MeeGo). I have proposed it again and am awaiting an answer. I'm not hopeful though because the Nokia Maemo team has been hit by budget contraints.

If worst comes to worst I will go ahead and volunteer to act as the "bag holder". I have a special paypal account created for community work a few years ago; if it's still usable I'll provide the details. If not I may relent and use my personal account.

Thanks for the update Texrat, fingers crossed that Nokia relents and allows a Maemo account - ofcourse we would try to work this so it would be at no cost to the Maemo team - but I understand these things are sometimes not as easy to explain and arrange as we'd like.

The community work one sounds like a goer too if it's still available. The good thing is we have a few options if the Maemo one falls through.

i've "reported" the first post to get the title changed, hopefully it doesnt put me on the naughty step
Edit: Wow changed already! Speedy Gonzales is modding tonight.

It may be too late but what about a category for libraries.

As fun as a game might be, how much more fun would it be if someone ports over the native binaries or does the other work involved to port java monkey engine or ruby game/gosu. Open gl es ports would be my top vote, but yet they wouldn't really count as an executable app. Also maybe in the future best kernel mod??
Best alternate os... It's hard to say how to organize it all, I'm just tossing this up in the air as food for thought.

Maybe something to think of for the next round.
Anyhow thanks for organizing this.

Actually libraries are very welcome, in fact when I was thinking this comp up I was wishing someone would make a head tracking library for it. Almost any bit of code is welcome, it's just a matter of squeezing it into a category - if the other 5 dont fit then the "Other" category is a catch all

Damn! If nokia wants to sponsor this it will make the compitition much harder for me!

But on the other side probebly it will come more and better apps so I guess I have to thank Nokia for this amazing support!

lol.. well they say nothing worthwhile was ever easy

We'd be very glad to have you aboard Lullen, feel free to sign in the list of participants (wiki) at any time. If you're not sure of your project name yet, just put 'tbd' (to be determined) in there and update it later

It's a bit quiet today, so I thought I would pop in. In other words, *bump*!

We've been going just over a week now, 16 projects are listed on the wiki, $365 of bounty pledges, and we've had 1669 views of the page - so not a bad start I reckon

Let's hope we can keep it going and build on it

One thing bothering me is I don't see too many beginners getting involved. That's one of the main aims of the competition, anyone have any ideas to achieve that?

I have an hour or two before I hit the sack, I might write up a short beginner tutorial following on from the good works of mikec and fatalsaint.. hmm need ideas..
