Just talked to an Amazon manager, she stated for people who pre-ordered the phone, if you call in and tell them about the rebate and how you won't get it because the pre-order date shows up on the invoice, Amazon will cancel your previous order and place a new one, but still honor your locked in price so this way you get the rebate. However you will be at the back of the line for shipping.
** She just called me back and said they have the devices and will start shipping either tomorrow or Monday at the latest and should have enough product if I want to cancel my first order and replace it.

So they start shipping soon, eh .. ?
Can you tell me the name of the manager, or how you contacted him/her (email or phone) .. ? I would like the verify this too .. If the same news is confirmed from multiple communication routes, then its likely to be true

Or this guy olli-pekka.kallasvuo@nokia.com Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo the CEO of Nokia who started the whole N900 has been shipped "LIE" and this thread. I bet a few hundred E-mails in his inbox might get him asking some questions of his staff...
If he came from marketing, this could explain their mentally challenged approach to this whole thing Us lowly, common consumers probably should have got the note NEXT week
BTW, unless some slip through, only Nokia direct channels will see any units before December. Dell is probably December too.
