Thoughtfix thinks that the new tablet will be announced on feb 16th at the mobile world congress. Can any one with insider knowledge comment on this?

That Feb 16 date would be right in line with the fact that prices have suddenly dropped on the N810 and I noticed that prices on the N800 dropped two weeks before the N810 announcement...

How much time passed between the n810 announcement and the n810 first being available?

No, they can't. Even denying plausible rumors would be bad, as it sets a precedent to interpret silence on future rumors as an indicator of accuracy.

But it does seem quite likely to me (with absolutely no insider knowledge).

The prices of the N800 dropped right around the first week of October 2007, and the N810 was announced October 17th.

When did the N810 become generally available? I seem to recall that it was late November to early December 2007... Google is very quick to give me an announcement date, but very reluctant to give me a date for when it started to appear on store shelves.

Sounds about right. I ordered mine on 30/11/2007, as soon as I found a shop that had it in stock.

Isn't it a bit early to announce it on the 16th, when the SDK isn't even in alpha status yet and they're still working on the UI? The last few tablets were available pretty quick after the announcements (or pretty much at the same time, in the N800's case).

Would be cool though

Regarding storage: I'm willing to be we'll see a decent amount of internal memory (at the very least 8GB, probably 16, maybe 32) and an external microSD slot.

Yeah, but with the price cuts, I'd say it's likely to be announced soon, and have a longer announcement/shipping delay than previously, on par with the N97.

Yeah but with the N97 (I think) they announced it quite a long way before it was released to build some hype. Same might be true of the soon-not-to-be-called-internet-tablet range, as there's not been anything for a while, to make sure they stay on the radar?

Just a wishful guess of course

According to Engadget, it was on store shelves Nov. 19, 2007.
