I know thickness (or thinness) is a big selling point for phones, but as the screens get larger, I think a little thicker would give a more "sturdy" feel. The thinner you make the bigger screen, the more perceived "flex" there is going to be.

As long as the weight is in an acceptable range, I'd rather a tablet (particularly a large non pocket-able one feel a little sturdier (thicker). Otherwise, I'd always be worried about cracking the screen.

What a day! This one is a BOMB:

N64 Emulator released for Android!

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/03/n64...lator-android/

MARKET LINK:https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JI9cWwbnoM

The emulation support is truly impressive on Android, and with modern devices, should play a lot of classic games with little trouble (according to the app description).

Another win for Android!

Too funny--I JUST happened to be setting up my Wiimote (with classic controller attached) to play emulated games on my Droid (since the Wiimote isn't going to work on the Tab) last night when I happened across that emulator. I considered installing it but there's no free version to try out. It says it generally runs pretty well with a few slowdowns even on the original Droid, depending on the game.

I'd certainly like to see it running on the Tab. I suspect that there will be videos online shortly.

Do you know if this is the same developer as psx4droid?

Here's a comparison review between the Galaxy Tab and the XOOM:

Well, according to the Android Market, the author of psx4droid is ZodTTD. N64oid appears to be authored by yongzh (the "more from this author" option shows this to be the same guy that authored Gensoid, Ataroid, Gearoid, Nesoid, SNesoid, etc.).

That's almost encouraging. ZodTTD has a history of just dumping projects. Hopefully we'll see some optimizations for better speeds from 'yongzh'.

I didn't know if ZodTTD used a different publishing name, but in hindsight he would likely label it N644droid or N64droid...

Near as I can tell, I'm far happier that yongzh is doing it too. He's got a track record for quality and keeps going back to update EVERY emulator he writes and makes them all work in a consistent fashion (menus and options work very, very similarly between them).

Good news. A static libary has been released for android that allows for fragments, the UI structure, to be used as far back as Android 1.6! This means that developers along all versions of the OS can target tablet devices along with phones/PMPs.

Additional, the LoaderManager class is also being provided. This class manages multiple asynchronous loaders of data (think URI).
http://android-developers.blogspot.c...s-for-all.html

This should greatly increase the number of Android tablet apps, and is a wonderful case of backwards compatibility.

I really like that the UI is being decoupled from the OS, even in one small part.
