Or, more likely, it sounds like he's far more optimistic about the Android tablets and the variety, while still having a common platform to run apps... and very likely far less optimistic about Nokia's and Apple's diversity of available offerings. It's just my guess, though. Let's see what he says.

He said 'Android tablet', so I don't think he's looking too hard at Nokia or Apple. And from the review, it sounds as if Honeycomb isn't ready for mass consumption yet.
Waiting for the dust to settle seems smart.
Deep down I still have hope for MeeGo or even WebOS, but until then it's Android all the way.
I don't even consider Apple... for anything.
I am not loyal to any brand.
But Nokia has lost a LOT of "points" in my view in the last year that I used the N900.
Loved the device and the OS, but Nokia, shame on you on software updates, bug fixes, you name it.
Slightly off-topic, but has anyone been inundated and kind of lost with these apps apps apps paradigm of the new breed of mobile OS ?
How many apps do you install in total and how many do you use ?
How do you discover new apps and how will a app maker make himself visible? These are all issues I believe wrong with the "There is an app for that" approach.
We do need to move faster to a more integrated approach than individual apps for individual functions - and of course back to web based apps.
I myself have around 20 apps installed on my Android EVO and often time I forget which was the app that I had installed for say news reading. All in all maybe I use 6-8 apps regularly - rest are hard to remember when you need them and I am also hitting this so called App Wall
What do you guys use and how many apps at a time ?

He did. Although he didn't mention anything about waiting or not waiting on Honeycomb. I'm verging on whether or not to get a Xoom myself--but I'm not waiting on the Honeycomb OS (in fact, I've already got it on my mom's Nook), I'm waiting on the G4 LTE modem upgrade to be INCLUDED in the hardware. I'll be damned if I knowingly have to plan to send back a device BY MAIL, no less, that I just bought. I either take it in to have it upgraded at the store or else I'll wait. I'm waiting, myself.
On the other hand, he also has made many of the same points I've been making. I believe I might, in fact, share far more in common with his thinking than you have.

I am part of the Android army since the first week of January, thanks.
And I have always kept an eye on Android even before I decided to get the N900 when it was announced.
Android was always my backup plan if things with Maemo didn't work out... and here we are.
I definitely want to get a tablet in the future, but nothing has convinced me yet.
I am waiting on Honeycomb to mature... Maybe when Ice Cream Sandwich is ready? I am not in a hurry.

Nokia's slogan shouldn't be the pedo-palmgrabbing image with the slogan, "Connecting People"... It should be one hand open pleadingly with another hand giving the middle finger and the more apt slogan, "Potential Unrealized." --DR
