Yes, that is exactly the problem, you do that, and a couple of other users (that are actually here on the forum and so on) but a lot of users, dont know how to resize a picture : / and believe me, I get tons of emails. So even if it's working with resized pictures we need to make sure it still at least like today for big ones that's why caching is a little bit more complicated, also..don't forget the memory..if we load 5 full 5 to 7 megapixel images on the memory...watchdog will send us to limbo

Anyhow there's indeed room to improvement, and the "complex" I said is that... to preload we will need a lot of testing. not to do a new clean ui mode to browse

It has been quite some time since I posted on this forum, but I still use Canola. Over the past month, I realized what - in my opinion - was missing in the application. My first suggestion is a simple option to display media information about a track currently playing. It could be in the options (new button to display info) and contain only the basics: file location & ID3 data.

Next, a feature I am really missing is the ability to create custom playlists. Right now, the only custom playlist that canola supports are the items rated 5-stars. If someone could add a currently playing track or entire folder to a playlist and then select only that to play, it could be way more convenient. For example, this could be useful for someone who has both audiobooks and music on his ITT.

My final suggestion is just a slight modification of a current feature. in the "browse by folder" menu, I think that the option "play all files in this folder AND its subfolders" should be present.

Finally, I am just curious as to the differences between versions 2.0.0~beta9-maemo1 , 2.0.0~beta9-maemo2 and 2.0.0~beta9-maemo4

Are you sure the playlist function is not what you need? Hold an item for a couple secs and it goes to the "on the go" playlist, then you can save it as a new playlist.

This can be added. The problem is exactly this "folder and subfolder" if you have too much folders and subfolders we can have small problems with recursiveness but I thi nk it's quite feasible. added!

This option is quite useful, but I still have a slight problem with my audio library: it's about 20Gb (got 2 16gb SD cards...). So to find a particular song, it could take quite some time. I haven't tried the option to hold a folder for some time, but if a folder could be added this way, then the problem is solved.


EDIT: I finally realized why I would appreciate an "add to playlist" option. Usually, I play my music on "shuffle all". When an audiobook track starts, I just press "next". However, sometimes, when a song plays, I just wish I could add it to a playlist, but it would take me A LOT of time to find this particular song in the "All songs" section, so I would give up right away. note: I just did a scan: over 12000 tracks! oh... metalayer-crawler has been disabled a long time ago!


until now, I know that beta4 does not run on chinook, and that beta2 is required for all the addons. that's as much as i could find by try and error.

The next step is of course to add the "recursive" "add to playlist" function but we need to be a little careful, specially with users like you with 12k tracks imagine you pressing a folder like 'My Music" it will add all your 12k tracks to the playlist ))

So good cancelation, good recursive add without getting you guys crazy!

But thanks, good insights on heavy media usage on your post I promise that they will not be left aside, at least modified to be on the future versions.

I have recently re-flashed my N810 and I am trying to get Canola to work. It installs successfully but fails to run.

There is an evas.c_evas.SmartObject error about 3/4 of the way down.
