It works for me, but takes a lot of time before beginning to speak.

My use case would be to enable eSpeakCaller when I'm driving with the bluetooth headset and disable the rest of the time. So I'd like also to ask if there is any possibility to enable/disable eSpeakCaller from a dbus call or better from the command line. This way I could associate the enable eSpeakCaller with bluetooth connection.

Mine works, but not always. I really wanted to pay attention today but it's been hell. I was only paying attention to 2-3 calls, and they all spoke (after some delay).

What is the intended default delay from "calling" state to first spoken word?

Does eSpeakCaller a command line interface?

I'd like to be able to enable/disable speaking so I could associate it with bluetooth connection.

Anyway, it still takes too much time before starting to speak so it's mostly unusable. Could it be related to the bug described here?

What are you expected from a PYTHON based application?
They are hell-slow etc, a programming language only for non programmers, general users.

It works for me.
Uninstall it, and install the latest version of espeakcaller. Maybe you have a non-compatible version on your device.

The Python application is just a GUI. I suppose eSpeak is called via command line from a dBus call raised by the Maemo 5 phone subsystem.
