It's always great to have a few patents for the future. Sure, but is this article first rule apply worldwide? In every country. Jolla might not get any issues with patents now. But if the get any successes in they future they will be targeted if possible. For now, nobody cares since they don't making any real money.

AFAIK it's a rule that holds worldwide, it's a major pillar of patent law, plus many parts of the world don't even recognise sw patents.

That's one thing that's annoying about them, they seem to be very Finnish-centric.
They need to embrace talent/ideas/input from everywhere, especially east Asia...
The temptation for backslapping mostly Finnish or Finnish-connected people, is a real problem.

Well, time for Jolla to look at top notch battery, screens and SoC. If they want to be premium, then they have to deliver premium

Yeah I hope "premium" doesn't = solid BQ & weird trimmings like diamonds & rubies etc, but crap SoC/screen etc, I hope they're not planning to build a Vertu-like phone O_o
I don't mind if they collaborate with Vertu for 1 or 2 phones (Vanjoki's a fan apparently), just don't make it their first flagship phone. I doubt they'll go that direction, thankfully.

Is anyone thinking that Nokia have more involvement in Jolla than what they're letting on?

Not the worst "conspiracy" theory that has been aired around this site. It would certainly make sense - WP is priority #1, or at least Nokia has to make it look like it.
So maybe in the end "future disruptions" has been outsourced. We'll know when the fat lady sings.
