I know, this isn't a Kindle thread. But it seems so brave and contrarian a direction -- instead of color, black and white! Instead of forcing people to pay heavy monthly charges, give the connection away!
I'm no expert, but I don't see that kind of courage in the N900. It combines a bunch of technological trends; I don't see anything original about it. It's just geek++

MMS? If that's it, I'll have to stay out of a lot of forums for quite a while or the Apple-crowd will tear me apart. - I remember what I (and others) wrote about a "phone" that couldn't even do MMS

Well at least with this platform if features are missing we as developers can code them. It wasn't so much a big deal that the phone couldn't do mms (talking about the iphone) but it was moreso that apple would reject any application that implemented that feature.
Won't have that problem with Maemo.
Kind of have to agree with them regarding the space bar key. It's really a bonehead move by Nokia and that's coming from someone who loves Nokia phones. There is no advantage (in typing speed) by moving the space bar to that location. If anything it presents a learning curve for using the phone.
I doubt anyone types faster because the keyboard was shoved all the way to the right. It's a feature that doesn't add any benefit to the phone so it really isn't a "feature" at all. Plus people are going to take one look at that keyboard and say they don't like it. That's just the nature of consumers.
One thing I want to write is a virtual keyboard that has NORMAL keyboard layout. Nokia is simply going down the wrong path by having to force users to adapt to a new keyboard. It's a bad idea...
