I'm pretty sure there were some who called the Wright brothers madmen.

I respect the stance of those who'd use their phones for calls only... (not even daring to play music or browse the net, for fear of damaging it)....

I also respect those who overclock, flash, and do whatever else is possible with it. For them, that's it's purpose.... the hack-ability of it etc

If they had died, you'd call them fools.... but they succeeded, so you assume they had competent engineers.

You're comparing people who downloaded a firmware they knew nothing about, had no part in creation of, and had the guts (or ignorance?) to install such thing on their device to the Wrights?

I'm only saying that we benefit from the knowledge and experience of those who are first to test stuff....and I'd rather show some appreciation for what they do rather than call them fools.

You seem to consider any risk taking as automaticly beneficial or brave. It can just easily be foolhardiness. The beneficial risk taking is usually done while knowing the risks and measuring the benefits.

The Wright brothers didn't just glue together couple pieces of leather and jump off the nearest cliff. They worked and researched the stuff for years.

The Wrights were exploring and discovering new boundaries of science and physics at the time.

What is happening here in regards to PR1.2 RC L34K is hardly similar to that. Perhaps if they cook their own roms and infuse it with a significant portion of their own codes, then we're talkin.

Which isn't that useful considering what they are testing is already outdated. Perhaps the only thing that is a positive gain is we learned a little more about enhancements such as having skype video calling.
