This whole confusion about which os to develop is completely rubbish and can be avaoided if nokia releases this phone compatible not with maemo or meego but with maemo ,meego ,windows phone 7 and let developers choose which os to try and test out!!!
that way they achieve active delopment in whatever os they are finally planning to support .

Ok, let me start. Umm. what would be a good question... Oh yes. Here goes!

Is the device made by Nokia?

Ok. if it is true please press the thanks button.

I'll bet any amount of money that they will wait to the last hour of the last day to talk about anything N9 related... That seems to follow the trend of how nokia has handled this thing from the beginning.

Yeah, but the second session of the Conf today seems like a good spot to announce something.

"Current state of MeeGo" = new device!

EDIT: fixed, it's the second session, not the opening session og the conf :P

I wouldn't be surpriced if Nokia didn't show any devices in MeeGo conference as the devices aren't real MeeGo devices. Maybe they show the products behind closed doors in MeeGo conf and announce them in next few weeks.

How about Elop comes in and does the monkey boy dance during Zemlin's keynote. And announces a whole bunch of phones and says that Nokia is 100% behind MeeGo in the future. Yeah I know, hell will probably freeze before that would happen ...

Sounds daft, but i wonder how difficult (or even possible) it would be to put the A9 processor into the n950(that is roumored to have an A8)...Its a bunch of soldering tabs taht are quite small, but is there any more to it or would it be a straight swap out?

And does the "developers, developers, developers" thing, announcing a dev device :P

Anyway, I believe we'll hear more about MeeGo from Nokia. WP7 is a good plan, commercially speaking, but I think Nokia needs to have something they can call their own, in the future, for the grand scheme of the things.

Unless the MSFT buyout is really happening

I believe this "disrupting" plan is a way to invest in new stuff without that much commercial compromise, so they can test waters and the put all their resources in the "next big thing" when it's proven true.

omap4430 is ready and has been shipping in devices, nokia put the omap3430 in the n900, which was only in the pre i believe at the time (we followed them to OC glory). but it was a top end SoC (snapdragon notwithstanding) not the fastest but def a stronger SoC. so the problem here is when was (and im speaking specifically about the device weve seen; hwkb) it finished?

may 2010 the hw was complete, from all indications when the n900 was announced they shared a slide with regards to the next cpu they would use being omap3 but that wasnearly 2 years ago. in the interval things have changed i dont need to rehash.

so the question is, has nokia decided to release 2009 hw in 2011 ... for tablets? which seemed to be in a silo outside of their traditional smart phones. this is why i dont think that were in for another great nokia proc disappointment, they rarely do in terms of their NITs. but it would probably be a 1ghz chip but a new SoC i dont think itll be a 36xx ...

i dont know what all this STE business is about, nokia hasnt announced another contract with a si company besides TI (save for the intel fiasco) ... trust me well know because either MS will force them to use qualcomm, or nokia will force MS to open up to other chips. but something will have to give, and right now theres nothing indicating a change thus far.

i equate the ste exec to the intel execs who have been saying that a moorestown, and now medfield device is always a quarter or two away ...
