Is the chroot image unmounted automatically when I power off my n900? (hint: do I need to write an upstart job to?).

Also, Estel, mate, buddy, can you gove some rough pointers as to what you have done to put the chroot in it's own partition on the emmc? I already know the ins/outs of partitions I want to know what scripts you have changed etc?

@qole
Sorry for being little impatient, but would You carry to read my post (just before Your last one) and answer question, aimed directly @ You?

Also, in my other posts in last few pages of this thread, I've asked You many times about some OpenOffice-specific parts in debian(izing) scripts of ED:

If you could find some break time from Harmattan'ing, we here on Maemo Squeeze ED would very appreciate Your answer Thanks in advance.

BTW - qole, when creating .img.ext<whatever> image of ED partition - no matter if using Sulu's one or mine - consider making it 3GB, instead of 2GB. Having 3Gb partition, I *never* encountered out of space errors during 'apt-get upgrade'. Heck, even dist-upgrade wasn't causing it (so using 3GB partition, there is no need to temporally relocating apt download location).

@vi_
Edit /home/user/.chroot, changing the following commands (things after # are my commands, don't put it into actual config file):
Code:
IMGFILE=/dev/mmcblk0p4 # or other partition, depending on where it's sitting
IMGFS=ext4 # or any other ext You're using - not sure if it's needed, when dealing with real partition, but I've changed it anyway
TMPSIZE=30M # as I use 3GB ED partition, I decided to use more ammount of space for swap

I don't know? For completeness' sake? It doesn't seem to be hurting anything, does it?

javaldx failed!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx
I18N: Operating system doesn't support locale ""
(message about locale is probably unrelated). Ho ever, everything works fine, when using Debian chroot shortcut (i.e. chroot with root access). So, it seems to be privileges-related glitch - any ideas?
Yes, after running things as root instead of user, you probably have root ownership on some config files in your /home/user directory now, you need to "chown user:users" them back again.

I don't know if it is obsolete or not. Is it? Has LibreOffice changed the environment variables?

I don't use LibreOffice. What does it have over OpenOffice?

Sulu's image is available from qole.org/files and as a choice on the image installer on your N900.

Well, OpenOffice is obsolete (not sure if officially - probably, they've changed their mind about discounting it, but it was announced some time ago), and LibreOffice is both code, contributors, and ideologically-wise continuation of OpenOffice. LibreOffice started after Oracle actively presented their hostility against FOSS at all, and autocratic (as opposed to meritocratic) stance on accepting/declining OpenOffice code contributions.

Long Story short, 99,99% of active OpenOffice code contributors started "fork", and things like GoOO also headed in this direction. freed of limitations from bounds with DamnBigCompany (sounds familiar? ), LibreOffice development got epic momentum and it's flourishing.

Trivia: LibreOffice was meant to be temporary name, but Oracle refused to grant name to newly formed foundation.
---
All after all, i strongly recommend every OO user upgrading to LibreOffice.

@ibrakalifa extract the Ubuntu image and put it on your SD card or in MyDocs, then edit /home/user/.chroot to point to the Ubuntu image.

If you didn't understand what I just wrote, I would strongly recommend you use the "main" Debian image for learning Linux.

@fw190 @Estel : I was hoping you would give me technical reasons why LibreOffice is superior. If there are only political reasons why LibreOffice is better for the N900, then I think that it isn't worth the headaches of migrating for most Easy Debian users.
